About Abéy
Abéy Bruce is the founder, owner, and lead designer of Austin Creative Landscaping, a design/build landscape company he started in South Austin in 2008 under the name Austin Lawns and Flower Beds. Encouraged by a friend with industry experience and motivated by a desire to build something meaningful, Abéy turned a passion for plants, construction, and the outdoors into a thriving local business.
A 2000 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, Abéy brings deep academic knowledge of horticulture and ecology alongside 16+ years of hands-on field experience in Central Texas. He is one of the region's most knowledgeable experts in native and adapted plant selection — the plants that naturally thrive in Austin's unique alkaline soils, punishing summer heat, and unpredictable rainfall patterns.
Abéy has completed the City of Austin's Grow Green certification program twice and was a former member of both the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association (TNLA) and the Native Plant Society of Texas. These credentials reflect a lifelong commitment to sustainable, ecologically responsible landscaping that serves both homeowners and the broader Central Texas environment.
When he's not designing landscapes or overseeing installations, Abéy is a husband and father of three Austin-born children. That deep rootedness in this community — literally and figuratively — shapes everything he builds.
